Mystic Sister's Terms of Service
Your Agreement with The Ninth Door
Last Updated: November 19, 2025
This is an important notice. Please read it carefully.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Mystic Sister as well as its parent company The Ninth Door, LLC ("The Ninth Door," "Mystic Sister," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Mystic Sister mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
Among other things, these Terms describe:
- What you can expect from us;
- What we expect from you;
- How subscriptions, limits, and billing work; and
- That disputes between us will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than in court, with no jury trial or class actions, unless you opt out as described below.
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
You should also review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information (the important part: we will never sell or share it). By using the Services, you acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
1. What Mystic Sister Is (And Is Not)
Mystic Sister is an AI-powered "pocket oracle." When you ask a question, the app:
- Randomly shuffles and selects one or more digital oracle "cards";
- Sends the card(s) and your input to Google Gemini's models via API through Firebase;
- Returns an interpretive reading generated by AI models trained on human-authored prompts.
Mystic Sister provides interpretive, divination-style content for entertainment, reflection, and inspiration only.
- Mystic Sister does not provide medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
- Mystic Sister is not a crisis or emergency service.
- Any decisions you make based on readings or content from the Services are yours alone.
By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that any readings, messages, or guidance you receive are experimental, probabilistic AI outputs and should not be relied on as factual, predictive, or a substitute for professional advice.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
2.1 Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority where you live, if higher) to use the Services. By using Mystic Sister, you represent that you meet this requirement.
If you are allowing another person (such as a dependent) to use your account, you are fully responsible for their use of the Services and any resulting obligations under these Terms.
2.2 Account Registration
To use certain features, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password.
- You agree to provide accurate, current information.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
- If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, you should promptly notify us at support@ninth-door.com.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or appear to be fraudulent or compromised.
3. Description of Services and "Memory" Tiers
3.1 General Service Description
The Services include, but are not limited to:
- AI-generated readings and messages based on user questions and our proprietary oracle decks;
- Different subscription tiers that determine how many readings you can access and how long Mystic Sister "remembers" your conversations;
- Optional promotional or supportive communications via push notifications and email (with your consent).
3.2 Conversation History and "Memory"
Mystic Sister uses Firebase to store certain conversation logs so the AI can remember context and respond more fluidly. The length of this "memory" depends on your subscription tier:
- Free Tier: Memory lasts only within a single in-app session. When you close the app, your conversation history is not retained as "active memory" for future sessions.
- Intermediate Paid Tiers (e.g., limited memory tiers): Mystic Sister may remember certain context for a limited time (e.g., up to 2 weeks), even if you close the app. Exact retention periods will be described in the app at the time of signup or in your account settings.
- Unlimited / Highest Paid Tier: Mystic Sister may retain and use conversational memory for at least six months (or more) to personalize your experience.
We store user conversation history and Mystic Sister's "memory" securely in Firebase. We do not sell or share API logs or user data for third-party advertising or data-broker purposes. We will never sell your conversation content, or any personal information disclosed therein.
For more detail on what we store, for how long, and your choices regarding deletion, please see our Privacy Policy.
4. Use Restrictions and Sensitive Content
4.1 No Emergency or Crisis Use
Mystic Sister is not designed for:
- Reporting emergencies;
- Obtaining crisis counseling; or
- Seeking or providing immediate help for self-harm, harm to others, or any medical situation.
If you are in crisis or considering harming yourself or others, do not use Mystic Sister. Contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline instead.
4.2 Illegal, Harmful, or Abusive Use
By using the Services, you agree that you will not:
- Use Mystic Sister to confess, admit, or discuss real plans to commit crimes or harm yourself or others in a way that implies an expectation of intervention, rescue, or reporting;
- Use the Services to harass, abuse, or threaten others;
- Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or otherwise objectionable; or
- Use the Services in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
We are not obligated to monitor user conversations or report disclosures of self-harm, harm to others, or illegal acts. We do not provide mandatory reporter or emergency response services through this app.
However, we reserve the right, in our discretion and as permitted or required by law, to disclose information to law enforcement or appropriate authorities if we become aware of content that indicates an imminent threat of serious harm, or as otherwise legally required (for example, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or legal process).
We strive to approach these topics with empathy and care, but our legal obligation is to clarify that: We are not responsible for intervening in emergencies; You should not rely on Mystic Sister as a safety or reporting tool; and Your use of the app for these purposes violates these Terms.
5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Reading Limits
5.1 Subscription Structure
Mystic Sister offers:
- One free tier; and
- Three paid subscription tiers (e.g., limited, extended, and "unlimited"/premium).
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis, unless canceled.
5.2 Reading Limits and Reset Schedule
Each subscription tier includes a certain number of readings within a rolling period defined by Mystic Sister. For purposes of clarity:
- Your available reading count resets based on calendar dates, not the date you personally signed up.
- For example, your readings may reset on a repeating seven-day cycle starting on the 1st of each calendar month (e.g., days 1–7, 8–14, 15–21, 22–end of month), or as otherwise described in the app.
- The exact schedule and number of readings per period for each tier will be described at the time of purchase and may be updated from time to time.
We may change reading limits and reset structures prospectively, but will communicate material changes in the app or via email where required by law.
5.3 Payments & Third-Party Billing
All purchases and subscriptions are processed and handled through the platform on which you download the app (e.g., Apple In-App Purchase, Google Play Billing). Subscription management is handled through RevenueCat.
- All payment information is handled and encrypted by these third-party providers.
- We do not process or store your payment details.
If you purchase a subscription through an app store:
- Billing, renewals, and cancellations are governed by that app store's terms and policies.
- To manage or cancel your subscription, you must do so through the app store's account settings.
5.4 Automatic Renewal & Cancellation
Unless you cancel your subscription before the end of the current billing cycle:
- Your subscription will automatically renew for another month at the then-current price; and
- The applicable amount will be charged to your selected payment method.
You may cancel at any time, but:
- All subscription fees are non-refundable, except where required by law or where otherwise clearly stated by us or the applicable app store.
- When you cancel, your access to paid features generally continues until the end of your then-current billing period.
We may change subscription prices in the future. If we do, we'll provide notice as required (for example, through the app or email). Continuing to use the Services after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.
6. Communications: Push Notifications and Emails
With your permission, we may send you:
- Push notifications through the app; and/or
- Emails (e.g., updates, offers, new features, or relevant content).
Notifications and emails are sent using the third-party providers OneSignal (push notification platform) and MailerLite (email service platform).
You can manage notifications by:
- Adjusting your app settings;
- Changing your device settings; and/or
- Following unsubscribe or opt-out instructions in emails.
Even if you opt out of promotional messages, we may still send you transactional or service-related messages (for example, about your account, subscription status, or important updates to these Terms).
7. Third-Party Services and Providers
Mystic Sister relies on third parties for key parts of the infrastructure, including:
- Thunkable (app build framework);
- Firebase (hosting, database, authentication, and infrastructure);
- RevenueCat (subscription management); Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing (billing)
- Google Gemini (AI model/API provider);
- OneSignal (push notifications); and
- MailerLite (emails).
These third parties may have their own terms and privacy policies that govern your use of their services in connection with Mystic Sister. Where an app store, platform, or payment provider applies its own terms, those terms apply in addition to these Terms, and in some cases may control.
We do not control these third-party services and are not responsible for their acts, omissions, or outages. Your use of the Services means you consent to our use of these third-party providers as described in these Terms and in our Privacy Policy.

We may, at our discretion and where permitted by law, suspend or terminate your access if we suspect misuse, abuse, or violation of these Terms.
10. Disclaimers and Assumption of Risk
10.1 Entertainment and Informational Purposes Only
All readings, messages, interpretations, and other content provided through Mystic Sister are for entertainment, reflection, and informational purposes only.
They are not:
- Medical or mental health advice;
- Legal, tax, or financial advice; or
- Professional counseling or therapy.
You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on the Services. We strongly recommend that you consult qualified professionals for any questions concerning your health, mental health, finances, legal situation, or other serious matters.
10.2 AI Limitations
Readings are generated in part by artificial intelligence models that are probabilistic, experimental, and not infallible. We recommend you use the same discretion you would while receiving a reading from a human psychic, as outputs may be:
- Inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading;
- Inconsistent from one session to another; and
- Influenced by your phrasing, past inputs, or system constraints.
You acknowledge and agree that: You use the Services at your own risk; and You will not hold us responsible for harm allegedly caused by reliance on any reading, message, or content.
10.3 General "As Is" Disclaimer
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT (INCLUDING READINGS) ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- IN NO EVENT SHALL THE NINTH DOOR, LLC, MYSTIC SISTER, OR THEIR OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, LOST DATA, EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICES; AND
- OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID, IF ANY, FOR THE SERVICES DURING THE THREE (3) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In such cases, the limitations will apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Ninth Door, LLC, Mystic Sister, and their respective owners, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your access to or use of the Services;
- Your violation of these Terms; or
- Your Content or any misuse of the Services under your account.
We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate with us in such defense.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, if:
- You violate these Terms;
- We suspect fraudulent or unauthorized use; or
- We discontinue the Services in whole or in part.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Services immediately ceases; and
- Any provisions that by their nature should survive (including IP rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, arbitration, and indemnification) will remain in effect.
You may also stop using the Services at any time and, where applicable, cancel your subscriptions as described above.
14. Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, and Class Action Waiver
14.1 Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute between you and us arising from or relating to the Services will be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent that another governing law is required by applicable consumer protection rules.
14.2 Mandatory Individual Arbitration
Except as expressly provided otherwise in this Section, you and The Ninth Door agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services (collectively, "Disputes") shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court.
- The arbitration will be administered by a reputable arbitration provider (such as AAA or NAM) under its applicable consumer arbitration rules, as modified by this Section.
- The arbitrator, and not any court, shall have the authority to decide issues relating to arbitrability, including the scope, enforceability, and interpretation of this arbitration agreement.
- Either party may choose to bring an individual claim in small claims court instead of arbitration if the claim meets that court's requirements.
- You and we retain the right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for claims involving intellectual property or unauthorized access or use of the Services.
14.3 Class Action and Jury Trial Waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- You and we waive any right to a jury trial; and
- Disputes will be resolved on an individual basis only, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding.
Unless you and we agree otherwise in writing, the arbitrator may not consolidate or join your claim with another person's claim or preside over any form of class, collective, or representative proceeding.
If a court determines that this class action waiver is unenforceable with respect to a particular claim, then that claim (and only that claim) shall proceed in court and not in arbitration, and the arbitration agreement shall remain in force for all other claims.
14.4 Opt-Out of Arbitration
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement (but not other provisions of these Terms) by sending a written opt-out notice to:
[Arbitration Opt-Out Email – e.g., legal@mysticsister.app]
Subject line: "Mystic Sister – Arbitration Opt Out"
Your notice must include:
- Your full legal name;
- The email address associated with your Mystic Sister account;
- A clear statement that you wish to opt out of the arbitration agreement; and
- Your signature (typed name is acceptable for electronic submission).
To be effective, your opt-out notice must be received within 30 days of the earlier of:
- The date you first created your Mystic Sister account; or
- The date these Terms (or a version containing arbitration) first became effective for you.
If you opt out, Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to jurisdiction and venue in those courts.
15. Changes To The Services and Terms
We may update or change the Services over time (for example, to improve features, add or remove functionalities, or address security or legal requirements).
We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we do:
- We will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top; and
- Where required by law or where changes are material, we will provide additional notice (e.g., via the app or email).
If you continue using the Services after updated Terms take effect, you agree to be bound by the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services and, if applicable, cancel your subscriptions.
16. Miscellaneous
- Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies or terms referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Ninth Door regarding the Services, and supersede any prior or contemporaneous agreements.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
- No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms, in whole or in part, without notice, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force Majeure. We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control (including natural disasters, acts of war, labor disputes, internet failures, or platform outages).
